Fitness Coaching Requirements

At the Rush Fitness Complex, all of our Fitness Coaches are certified through our own internal certification process. The Rush Fitness Fit-Coach curriculum was created utilizing fitness and performance training from many of the top organizations in the world including: NASM, ACE, NSCA, ACSM and others. Our goal was to create an educational platform that exposes our Fit-Coaches to MANY different types of information from any and all credible sources. The above mentioned educational agencies require between 62-70% on a written exam to become “certified.” This isn’t good enough for the Rush! We utilize both a written and “hands-on” exam that requires a minimum of 90% to pass! We are constantly striving for the most eager to learn, exciting, fun and fitness-dedicated people to help our members reach their goals, so we set the bar even higher to be able to coach at The Rush. Our Certification process includes:

Attending our live 3-Day course that includes lecture and hands-on within the following topics:

Introduction to the Five Factors of Fitness:
  • Food Intake (Review of basic terminology, media mythology, health, performance and weight loss/gain information)
  • Core Training (Introduction of basic anatomy, function and needs for a strong foundation for movement)
  • Cardiorespiratory Training (Review basic needs, recommendations and how to utilize for maximum benefits)
  • Resistance Training (Review proper exercise technique that will be most beneficial to the body as well as various exercise types for different goals)
  • Program Design and Coaching (Learn how the previous 4 Factors are put together with progressive adjustments for maximum results)
Learn Movement Assessments that are determined to establish a client’s proper starting point and current level of structural integrity (Learn how to watch a client’s movement patterns and create a corrective solution based upon what you see for your client’s ideal movement and performance)

Review The Basic Components of an Exercise Program
  • Warm Up - Experience the benefits of self-myofascial release and various stretching techniques to prepare the body for subsequent workout!
  • Core Training - Perform various core exercises to warm up and strengthen the lower back, hips and torso muscles for the rest of the workout!
  • Resistance Training - Learn how to utilize a wide range of free weight, machine, and body weight exercises to help any client reach their goal!
  • Cool Down - Learn when to use various forms of flexibility to help a client recover from their workout as soon as possible!
Establish proper Exercise Technique to help a client get the most out of every exercise, in the safest environment possible (There are many ways to do anything, but learn what is currently regarded as the safest and most effective positions for the body in every exercise!)

Review The Rush’s Progressive Program Design to build a program that is safe, results-based and progressive for any client. The Rush utilizes its unique programming methodology that emphasizes specific programs for any client looking to enhance:
  • Stamina (Programs specific for increasing endurance, tone, definition & function)
